Hearts forward Soufian El Hassnaoui is out for four months after tearing his posterior cruciate ligament. Scans have confirmed that the knee injury suffered by the Dutchman during Saturday’s friendly with Preston will rule him out until November at the earliest.
El Hassnaoui does not require surgery, but will miss the first four months of the campaign as Hearts return to the Scottish Premiership. He suffered with both groin and ankle problems last season and this latest injury has come at the worst time for the player, with the new season about to begin.
El Hassnaoui limped from the field minutes before the end of the match at Deepdale. Hearts hoped the injury would only be minor and sent him for a scan yesterday, which has revealed the ligament tear and forced the player out of action.
