Hearts players Christophe Berra, Steven Naismith, Ross Callachan and Demetri Mitchell have begun pledging some of their wages to Foundation of Hearts.
The quartet have joined almost 8000 fans in donating monthly cash to the Edinburgh club. FoH have so far provided more than £6.5million of funding through supporter pledges and are on course to gain full control of Hearts in 2020.
Last Saturday, they hosted Foundation Day against Motherwell and managed to enlist 150 new members. Hearts ambassador and existing FoH pledger Gary Locke welcomed the new recruits on board.
“Saturday was a fantastic day for everyone involved with the Foundation of Hearts and the club, and it also served to reinforce the magnitude of the support from the fans off the pitch,” said Locke.
“While the players are delighted to play their part, they fully appreciate that this gesture is no more important than the contributions made by the thousands of fans who are already members.
“The turnaround at this club with the help of the Foundation of Hearts has been nothing short of exceptional and the work being done in laying solid foundations for the future is certainly not lost on myself nor the players.”
Foundation of Hearts chairman Stuart Wallace said: “This announcement builds on what was a memorable Foundation Day at the weekend. Our legends in the stand will welcome their heroes on the pitch into the Foundation of Hearts with open arms.”
