FC Sion midfielder Joaquim Adao is poised to join Hearts this evening after the clubs verbally agreed a four-month loan deal.

The Angolan internationalist was due to fly into the Capital to put pen to paper after agreeing to the move when he visited Tynecastle earlier this month. He will play for Hearts until the end of the season, provided he passes a medical and the paperwork is completed on time.

Hearts and Sion had to negotiate the financial details of his loan but the clubs reached an agreement around lunchtime. Adao immediately set off for Edinburgh, keen to play regularly after falling out of favour in Switzerland.

The 25-year-old holds 11 senior caps for Angola despite being born in Fribourg, Switzerland. He is known as an authoritative defensive midfielder with a good passing range but has made only three appearances for Sion this season.

Hearts manager Craig Levein is also keen to sign a striker before the transfer deadline. One player being considered is Dundee Marcus Haber, although Levein is pursuing other forwards.

Meanwhile, Hearts' Bulgarian forward Nikolay Todorov is poised to join Queen of the South on loan until the summer. He spent the first half of the season with Livingston.
