HEARTS will appeal the red card given to defender Callum Paterson against Hamilton on Saturday.
Tynecastle officials have reviewed footage of the incident and will submit a formal appeal to the Scottish Football Association today.
Paterson was dismissed by referee Willie Collum for serious foul play following a tackle on Hamilton’s Darian MacKinnon in the 76th minute of the match.
Replays of the challenge prove Paterson won the ball first and did not have studs showing or both feet off the ground. Hearts were leading 2-1 at the time but, after being reduced to ten men, lost the game 3-2 and with it their 100 per cent record.
The SFA, who are already looking at post-match comments by Hearts coach Robbie Neilson, will study the incident and ask Collum for his views before deciding whether to uphold the appeal.
