Dundee have completed the loan signing of Scotland international defender Christophe Berra from Hearts. An agreement was reached between the clubs which sees Berra head to Dens Park until the end of the season.

He was told by Hearts manager Daniel Stendel earlier this month that he was free to find a new club, with the club captaincy later given to Steven Naismith.

Berra, who turns 35 today, had held talks with the English League Two side Salford City but has travelled to Tayside prior to tonight's transfer deadline closing.

He joins Dundee's push for promotion to the Premiership and will then reassess his future in the summer. He extended his Hearts contract 12 months ago and is currently tied to his parent club until May 2021.

A graduate of the Riccarton youth academy, Berra joined Wolverhampton Wanderers from Hearts for £2.3million in 2009. He moved to Ipswich Town in 2013 before returning to his native Edinburgh in 2017. He has made more than 200 appearances in maroon in total.
