Hearts are trying to negotiate a deal to bring Spanish striker Juanma to Tynecastle, the Evening News can reveal.
The 24-year-old plays in Greece with Kalloni but is interested in moving to Scotland if he can agree his release.
Kalloni recently announced that Juanma - full name Juan Manuel Delgado Lloria - had signed a one-year contract extension. However, Hearts hope he could be allowed to leave the Greek Super League club after scoring seven goals in 26 appearances last season.
Tynecastle officials have spoken with the forward’s representatives and are now waiting to learn whether he will be available this summer. Juanma is 6ft 2in tall and is known as a mobile striker with good technical ability. He previously played with Asteras Tripoli in Greece, plus the Spanish clubs Alaves, Denia and Jove Espanyol.
His contract situation has made negotiations difficult and Hearts are content to wait in the wings until it becomes clear whether he is leaving Greece or not. They are not keen to pay transfer fees for new players as head coach Robbie Neilson and director of football Craig Levein operate a strict policy of financial prudence.
Gavin Reilly, the Queen of the South forward, is another target and a deal to bring him to Gorgie is understood to be close. With Osman Sow, Soufian El Hassnaoui, Dale Carrick and Gary Oliver already in the squad, the addition of Juanma and Reilly would provide Neilson with strong options in attack for the season ahead.
