Lennon said: “You can't control speculation - there's been no concrete offers, no confirmation of anything and we don't want to sell him.

"He's in a good place mentally, I spoke to him on it yesterday.

"I'm there as support for him, sometimes it can be a very distracting situation he finds himself in."

The Ibrox boss has been hit with the charge following comments over a challenge by Dundee United defender Ryan Edwards on striker Alfredo Morelos.

Rangers have labelled the charge ‘bizarre’ and will “robustly contest” it.

Porteous backing

Hibs defender Ryan Porteous has earned the backing of Scotland U21 boss Scot Gemmill after being called up for the latest internationals.

The centre-back came in for criticism in some quarters for his role in the club’s 2-2 draw with Rangers on Sunday, plus the aftermath with words exchanged with Steven Gerrard and James Tavernier.

Gemmill said: "I don't think you can be a top player without having that edge. I speak to the players about this before every game. Your opponent is trying to beat you and embarrass you, so you have to take it personally.

"I love to see that [aggressive streak] in the team. You need to have it to be successful.”

Midfielder keen to join Rangers

Rangers target Daniel Johnson is “keen” to make the move to Ibrox.

The midfielder’s former team-mate Andy Little, who joined Preston North End from Rangers in 2014, told the Scottish Sun he had heard Johnson is eyeing a move north.

Little said: “I’ve heard that he’s keen to go to Rangers through my contacts down there so I think that’s very important.

“Getting the chance to go to Ibrox doesn’t happen every day of the week and I feel he will handle playing for Rangers.

“In my opinion there are a lot of similarities between him and Joe Aribo – they’ve got that technical ability and the skill to find a pass.”
