Hearts are in talks with the Congolese international centre-back Clevid Dikamona, who was their guest at Tynecastle Park to watch Saturday's win over St Mirren.
The Edinburgh club want to sign an experienced central defender and 28-year-old Dikamona is top of their list. He is a free agent after a brief spell with the Israeli club Bnei Sakhnin and can therefore sign outwith the transfer window.
Born in Caen, France, Dikamona has previously played with Greek side Platanias, English club Dagenham and Redbridge, plus several French league teams. He also has a handful of senior caps for Congo.
He was in the Tynecastle directors' box to watch Hearts beat St Mirren 4-1 to stay top of the Ladbrokes Premiership. Talks are expected to continue over the weekend as the club aim to make him their 17th signing of the summer.
