Hearts’ odds to win the Scottish Championship have been severely cut from 7/2 to 15/8 after they defeated Rangers 2-1 at Ibrox.
Goals from Danny Wilson and Osman Sow won it for the Capital club, who welcome city rivals to Hibs to Tynecastle, whose odds have also shortened from 9/2 to 7/2 following their win over Livingston yesterday.
Rangers’ price, meanwhile, has drifted from 2/5 to 4/6.
Paul Petrie of Scottish bookmaker McBookie.com said: “The bookmakers expected it to be a cakewalk for Rangers this season, but it looks like they have a real fight on their hands.”
Meanwhile, the firm now makes Ally McCoist the 2/1 favourite in the Championship Sack Race.
Petrie added: “The Rangers fans haven’t been impressed with McCoist over the past few seasons, but because they have been winning they haven’t complained too much. Things will be different if they don’t get results in the Championship.”
