GARY OLIVER has been recalled early from his loan spell at Stenhousemuir to help beef up Hearts’s striking options for a busy festive period.
The 19-year-old was farmed out to the League 1 part-timers at the start of September and was due to remain available to the Ochilview side until next month.
However, with Osman Sow currently out injured and Dale Carrick still short of match fitness having been out for most of the season so far, Hearts have opted to bring Oliver back ahead of schedule as they prepare for three games in a week, starting with tomorrow’s home game against Alloa.
“We have a few games coming up and need as many players available as possible,” head coach Robbie Neilson told Hearts’ website. “The loan was good experience for him and I think he enjoyed it. I had him watched and he proved he can comfortably play at that level. He’ll now come back to us and it’s time for him to move up another level.”
Oliver was loaned out immediately after scoring his first two goals for Hearts at the end of August. He made ten starts for Stenny and scored two goals.
