HEARTS UNDER-20s were beaten 2-0 by their Celtic counterparts at Dumbarton.
The Jambos included striker Soufian El Hassanoui – gaining important game time following a knee injury – and goalkeeper Scott Gallacher, making his first appearance of the season at any level following an early-season finger injury and a recent spell on loan at Forfar.
Hearts began well with Robbie Buchanan having a close-range shot clawed away by Celtic goalkeeper Leonardo Fasan.
Celtic took the lead on 19 minutes, a Scott Allan free-kick bobbling about in the six-yard area before captain Fiacre Kellecher poked the ball home. And they more or less killed the contest six minutes into the second half when half-time substitute Regan Hendry knocked home a Jack Breslin right-wing cross at the back post.
Hearts: Gallacher, McKirdy, Jones, Howlett-Mundle, L Henderson, I Smith, Baxter (Flanagan 84), Buchanan, Moore, El Hassanoui (E Henderson 69), McLean (Roy 84); Unused subs: Fisher, Irving, Reid.
