Hearts wingers Jamie Walker and Sam Nicholson have been nominated for Scotland’s Young Player of the Year award, as announced today by PFA Scotland.

Both players are in contention after outstanding seasons at Tynecastle as Hearts won the Scottish Championship in record time. The other two nominees for Young Player of the Year - which encompasses all four divisions of the SPFL - are Celtic’s Jason Denayer and Ryan Christie of Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Walker is already in the running for the Championship Player of the
Year honour alongside his Tynecastle team-mates Morgaro Gomis and Alim Ozturk, plus Scott Allan of Hibs.

PFA Scotland also revealed nominees for Scotland’s Player of the Year today. The Celtic pair Virgil van Dijk and Stefan Johansen are vying for the award alongside Aberdeen’s Adam Rooney and Greg Stewart of Dundee.

The winners of both awards will be announced at a celebration dinner at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on Sunday, May 3, which is sponsored by Cheque Centre currency exchange.
