Hearts striker James Keatings is pushing for a recall to the starting line-up at Alloa today.
Head coach Robbie Neilson admitted he was impressed with Keatings’ goalscoring cameo in last week’s defeat by Falkirk and will consider reinstating him for the tea-time kick-off.
Keatings dropped out of the starting line-up for the abandoned match against Rangers two weeks ago. With Osman Sow fit again, he remained on the substitutes’ bench against Falkirk but scored a fine goal after entering the fray in the second half.
Neilson stopped short of confirming a recall for Keatings but admitted he liked the forward’s attitude after being dropped. “James came out of the team and Osman came in but I thought he did really well when he came on against Falkirk,” said the head coach.
“He worked really hard, had a couple of opportunities and scored one of them. We need guys who are ready to step in. It will be the same today. Certain players will be selected and certain ones must be ready to come on and effect the game.
“I know what my team is. James has been doing well but so have the other forwards. He was obviously disappointed not to start but I thought he did really well when he came on.”
