Job done, but we need a striker: Hearts fans react to win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle

Hearts fans have taken to Twitter to react to their first game of the new season – with a mixture of happiness and concern after 1-0 win.

The Jambos got their season off to a winning start thanks to Jamie Walker’s second-half penalty in a hard-fought Betfred Cup encounter against Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Tynecastle Park.

They were indebted to a couple of great Craig Gordon saves in the first period, including one world-class stop to deny Daniel Mackay a fifth-minute opener.

But Hearts were always the better side and could have added more goals to their tally, with Craig Wighton striking the bar in the first half.

While fans were unable to attend the game, they watched on TV and were impressed with the performance, more than 200 days since Hearts’ last competitve fixture – and the striker situation was on many’s minds after the final whistle.
