Andy Driver’s dream is to score cup winner for Hearts

ANDY DRIVER dreams of scoring the winning goal for Hearts in the historic Scottish Cup final against Hibs and stressed today that losing is simply not an option for the Tynecastle club.

The winger conceded he is having difficulty sleeping this week ahead of the biggest Edinburgh derby of all time. In his dreams, he feels like a teenager again and imagines himself striking the winner at Hampden Park on Saturday.

For Hearts, losing can’t be considered and Driver is allowing himself only positive thoughts throughout his disrupted nights in bed.

“You dream of these moments when you are younger. When I go to bed at night just now, I feel like I’m 15 again, dreaming of scoring the winner in the Scottish Cup,” he said. “I think my sleep pattern’s mixed up a bit at the moment.

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and if we come away with a victory it will make everything worthwhile and be the most memorable moment of my life. We just have to treat it as another 90 minutes. Losing is not an option and we have to concentrate on that.”

Despite a tumultuous season off the field, Hearts can ensure season 2011/12 goes down in Tynecastle history with possibly the best-ever climax if they win this weekend. On a personal note, Driver has recovered from a fall-out with team management to stand on the brink of history with Hearts.

“We’ve a chance now to forget about all the bad times and just come away with good memories,” continued Driver. “It was tough over the Christmas period, but we knew all along that a good cup run could make the season a lot better.

“I think it got a little bit blown out of proportion but that was at a time when things were hard. We sat down and everything got sorted out and I think the less said about that now, the better. At the weekend I want to show that I do want to be at the club and prove people wrong.”
