Danny Grainger says Hearts must stick to derby script

DANNY GRAINGER is adamant Hearts can get their season-defining double-header off to a flyer by extending their derby dominance at Tynecastle on Sunday.

Paulo Sergio’s Europa League-chasing side will be aiming to make it ten games in a row unbeaten against Hibs at the weekend before travelling to Paisley next Wednesday for their Scottish Cup quarter-final replay against St Mirren.

Grainger knows victory in both would pave the way for a rousing end to the season, while a double dose of defeat could have the opposite effect. The left-back said: “It’s going to be another massive week but all we’re bothered about is that we can come out the other end with three points and in the semi- finals of the Scottish Cup.”

Grainger is aware of the green shoots of recovery which have become evident at Easter Road of late, but has no doubt that if Hearts are in the mood on Sunday, they can pile on the derby misery for their city rivals.

He added: “As long as we play well and stick to our gameplan, there’s no reason we can’t get another win. Hibs have picked up lately. Boys like Roy O’Donovan and James McPake seem to have given them a new lease of life, but as long we play to our best, we’ll get a result.”
