Medical scans last month showed a spur on the player’s heel but he has responded to treatment and rejoined first-team sessions.

It will be several weeks yet before he can be considered for competitive action as he has not featured at all for Hearts this season.

Damour’s last outing in maroon was the fateful 1-0 loss at St Mirren in March, which left the Edinburgh club bottom of the Premiership before their controversial relegation.

Manager Robbie Neilson is hopeful Damour will be available early next year if not before.

“Loic is back training and he's been fine,” Neilson told the Evening News. “His problem seems to have cleared up and he is in full training, so we will see how he is.

“He has only been back about a week after being off for a while so it will be some time before he's ready.”
