Miguel Pallardo’s agent was today due to arrive in Edinburgh to thrash out a new contract for the Spaniard at Hearts.
The 28-year-old midfielder has impressed since moving to Tynecastle last September and is keen to extend his stay with the club beyond the end of his current deal, which expires at the end of the season.
Talks are due to be held today between Clive Jagger, Pallardo’s Valencia-based agent, and Hearts management, who hope to secure his services for their return to the Premiership next season.
Jagger will remain in the Capital until Sunday and is due to take in tomorrow’s match at home to Raith Rovers. With both parties keen to strike a deal, no hitches are anticipated and an agreement could be reached before Jagger returns to Spain.
Meanwhile, head coach Robbie Neilson is set to freshen up his team for tomorrow’s game against Rovers following last Sunday’s 2-0 defeat away to Hibs. Billy King and Neil Alexander join Prince Buaben and Dale Carrick on the sidelines after undergoing minor operations earlier this week, while Adam Eckersley is suspended. “I’ll make some changes from last weekend to get some players game time,” said Neilson.
• The fourth Hearts Fans Rally will take place in Tynecastle’s Gorgie Suite on Sunday, 10 May to celebrate the club’s Championship-winning season. The three previous stagings of the event – first held when the club lurched into financial difficulty in November 2012 – have raised a combined total of £70,000 to help the club. Funds raised from next month’s event will go towards Hearts Youth Development and the club’s museum project. Further details and tickets can be obtained via the twitter feed @Heartsfansrally.
