New Year derby date change

Have your say

The New Year Edinburgh Derby at Easter Road has been switched to Thursday, January 2.

Hibs were originally due to host Hearts at 3pm on New Year’s Day, but the second Scottish Premiership derby of the season will instead take place the following night, with a 7.45pm kick-off, after Sky Sports chose it for live screening.

As a result, the subsequent matches for Hibs and Hearts have been moved back 24 hours in order to allow two clear days between fixtures.

Hearts will host Partick on Sunday, January 5, while Hibs visit Dundee United on the same day. Both those matches, originally scheduled for Saturday, January 4, will kick off at 3pm.
