Hearts have told trialist striker Ghislain Guessan he won't be offered a contract.
Riccarton management chose not to sign the 25-year-old after a two-week trial period. He was informed of the decision today before leaving the club's training ground.
Guessan, a former Ivory Coast Under-20 internationalist. was hopeful of earning a contract until at least the end of the season after scoring for Hearts Under-20s in a 2-1 win against Dundee United last week.
He was offered another week's trial on the back of that performance and had been due to play again in the youth side this afternoon before inclement weather struck.
Coaching staff had assessed him in training and brought his two-week stint in Edinburgh to an end when they decided he was not worth a contract.
Having left the Norwegian club Viking at the end of last year, Guessan is still seeking a club as a free agent. It remains to be seen if Hearts will continue looking for unattached forwards to reinforce their attack with just three months of the season left.
