HEARTS have no plans to replace assistant coach Billy Brown after a decision was taken not to renew the short-term deal he signed last year.
Brown will be in the dugout for the final time alongside manager Gary Locke in Saturday’s Scottish Premiership match at St Johnstone before formally leaving the club the following day.
The 63-year-old was in his third stint at Tynecastle following two spells as assistant to Jim Jefferies. His departure is the latest cost-cutting measure at the administration-hit Gorgie outfit.
A club statement read: “With a need to maintain financial prudence, it was felt a reduction in football costs was required.”
Brown reacted with sadness to the news, saying: “I am very disappointed my contract will not be renewed but that is the way things are at the club and I have to accept that.
“I urge all supporters to get behind Gary and the team for the remainder of the season.”
