@shoutedinburgh: “Absolutely disgrace anyone should be relegated from any league. 40 years a season ticket holder, not any longer. Organisations SPFL and SFA have ruined the game we love.”

@JohnWilliamson2: “Bring it on. Go get them Ann.”

@HeartsRant: “So it’s official — Heart of Midlothian have been expelled from the Scottish Premiership. Time for @JamTarts to formally challenge this completely unjust decision in the courts. Quite aside from that massive asterisk against Celtic’s 9IAR ‘triumph’, can we be absolutely clear that Heart of Midlothian haven’t been ‘relegated’. It’s an expulsion. Hearts have been expelled from the SPFL Premiership.”

@marsh_ross: “Whilst the update at least mentions the legal action, I'd hope that we’re not naive enough to believe these magical second talks are going to result in anything different from the first. Premiership is not interested in reconstruction.”

@BigC1874: “Give them a deadline of a week to agree to reconstruction. We have a strong case for compensation in the region of £5m. If they don’t accept our latest proposal, stop all talking & send in the lawyers. Let them come up with a solution that’s acceptable to us.”

@SuperStevoe: “Buzzing for away days at the High Court.”

Stewart Paterson: “Not surprised in all honesty. We’ve been utter garbage all season mainly due to Levein and his vision for the club. Even if the season had continued I didn’t have any confidence we’d have stayed up. Legal action a waste of time. Time to rebuild and get on with it”

Laurence Aitken: “Yes we have not been great. 8 games to play . Don’t think we had to play old firm again while other teams near bottom still had to. I still feel we had a good chance with 24 points to play for.”

Nicola Smith: “Not just saying this as a Hearts supporter but think it's disgusting that there are still 8 games to play and they can make a decision like that which will have massive financial implications on any club. Admittedly we've not been great all season but don't deserve this without being able to fight for it. Can't stand Hibs but even if it had been them in this situation I would've said it was unfair. Any club should be given the chance to fight for survival.”

Billy Auld: “Hope the fans can club together and fight this in the courts. No doubt we should never have been in this position in the first place. Ann Budge has a fair bit to answer to. She should dig into her own pocket to get us out this mess”

Ann Waddell: “Not surprised. Unfair, but we put ourselves in bottom position through c**p results.”

@McIverTheMark: “I've had two relegations in my lifetime as a Hearts fan and have excuses for both of them - how quality is that by the way.”

@CornerRadish: “Let's just take it and go down. Nothing like a burning sense of injustice to motivate a team for next season. Get Robbo in and play the youngsters with fire in their belly in front of a packed Tynecastle. We'll be back and back better.”

@camhughes51: “No point in contesting we were s***e all season. been handled dreadfully by the SPFL but serves Ann right for no giving Levein the sack when she should’ve. Her fault as much as anybody else, accept our fate and move on."

@GorgieU: “I won't be doing a boycott, I will attend games but I won't be getting excited about winning the 2nd tier of Scottish football at the end of next season.”

@KevinFraserPP: “Every person for themselves, understandably, expects this to end up in legal action, which is Hearts undoubted mandate to its stakeholders in these sad circumstances.”

@notsobigbryan: “All this just makes us love you even more Heart of Midlothian. We have been through far greater stresses and strains than this and came out the other end doing the scarf twirly. Love you.”

@BrownConyn: “We can all move on now happy days. I’m as gutted as any fan but now we can clear the deadwood from club, sort it out from top to bottom, learn from this and come back stronger.”

@lewiswotsin51: “Though we sometimes go down we can aye come back up.”
