Where are they now? The brave Hearts team who went down fighting in 2014

Looking back at the day Hearts were relegated from the top flight of Scottish football back in 2014 and what the players are doing these days.

Hearts were certainties for relegation for much of the 2013/14 season. Placed in administration the previous summer, the team was filled by young, inexperienced players led by a rookie head coach in Gary Locke. To make matters worse, they were given a 15-point deduction and looked up from the bottom of the table before a ball was kicked.

Aside from a brief flurry to start the season, they rarely looked like getting out of trouble. They didn’t stop fighting, however, and were unbeaten in seven of their last eight matches, recording five victories.

One of those came in this April 5 trip to Firhill. Despite winning the match 4-2, thanks to goals from Dale Carrick, Billy King and a double from Ryan Stevenson, a 3-2 win for St Mirren doomed the Tynecastle outfit.

But fans who packed out the away end in Maryhill that day cheered and roared on their favourites regardless, giving them a memorable send off for their efforts that campaign.
