A very young Hearts were well beaten by an experienced Aberdeen 4-0 as the Tynecastle side completed their home Under-20 League fixtures at Riccarton yesterday afternoon.

In contrast the Dons fielded a side including their five over-age players – Jamie Langfield, Joe Shaughnessy, Clark Robertson, Nicky Low and ex-Hearts player Andy Driver as they pushed for the title.

The visitors were in control straight from the kick-off and in fact the contest was finished within the first 40 minutes, through goals from Celem Felek 16 minutes, and a brace from Lawrence Shankland in 29 and 39 minutes.

Hearts put up a better show in the second half as the visitors appeared to take their foot off the gas, and the encouraging signs were that the Tynecastle youngsters did not lose their discipline and always kept trying to play football. Aberdeen’s fourth goal came from Frank Ross on 66 minutes. The title is Aberdeen’s if Hamilton drop any more points.
