DEFENDER Blazej Augustyn made his comeback following a hernia operation as Hearts’ Development Squad were held 1-1 by St Mirren – the Jambos’ third draw in four league matches.

Augustyn put his team under pressure straight from kick-off at Ochilview, sclaffing a clearance straight to St Mirren’s Dylan Pooler, whose strong shot was brilliantly saved by Jack Hamilton for a corner.

Hearts took the lead on 22 minutes, Gavin Reilly supplying a right-wing cross for Billy King to net from close range at the back post. The visitors equalised ten minutes later as Lewis Morgan fired in an angled shot that Hamilton couldn’t prevent from crossing the line. After the break, Ian Smith came close for Hearts with a shot that shaved the wrong side of a post. Dario Zanatta could have given Hearts the victory as he tried to dink a shot over goalkeeper Dan Wilks, who clawed the ball around the post for a corner.

Hearts: Hamilton; L Smith, McGhee, Augustyn (Howlett-Mundle 67), Baur, Morrison, I Smith, Anderson, King (Flanagan 64), Zanatta, Reilly (McLean 64). Unused subs: Mason; Jones, Baxter, Moore.
