Edinburgh rivals Hearts had tried to lure Mackie to Tynecastle but Hibs met Raith Rovers’ asking price. Mackie put pen to paper yesterday after passing a medical on Thursday.
“Hibernian have a good reputation for bringing through young players, and it is a good environment for me to continue my development as a footballer,” the player told the Hibs website.
“When an opportunity like this comes along it is wise to take it. I will be thankful to the Fife Elite Academy and Raith Rovers for the way they have treated me, but when I join Hibernian, I will be solely focused on trying my best to continue my development as a professional footballer.”
