The Hibees – who listed Polish right-back Filip Modelski as a trialist – struck first when he capitalised on a spilled Kane O’Conner cross to tap home.

Motherwell, however, equalised before half-time when Dylan Mackin headed past Hibs keeper Patrick Martin from a corner.

Hibs came out of the traps quickly in the second half and went ahead on 46 minutes. Paton was again the scorer, latching on to an Adam Watson cross to
finish past PJ Morrison.
