Lizzie Arnot and Kirsty Smith have left Hibs Ladies to sign professional contracts with FA Women’s Championship outfit Manchester United.
The Scottish internationalists have both decided to try their luck south of the Border, leaving Grant Scott’s side with their heads held high having made enormous contributions to the Capital outfit’s recent success.
Former Hutchison Vale winger Arnot, 22, who only recently made her comeback from a year on the sidelines following an operation to repair her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her knee, has been with the Hibees for the past six years and made 136 appearances, scoring 89 goals.
Full-back Smith, 24, spent 13 years in a green-and-white jersey and racked up 176 appearances hitting the net 39 times.
The duo will team up with their former Hibs Ladies manager Willie Kirk, who left his position as head coach of Bristol City Ladies last month to become assistant to United boss Casey Stoney as the women’s team embark on their debut season.
