Hibs Ladies got their Champions League qualifying campaign off to the perfect start with a 5-0 thumping of Swansea City in Cluj, Romania.
The Capital outfit are in Group 2 alongside the Welsh champions, Ukrainian side WFC Kharkiv and Olimpia Cluj. The play Kharkiv on Friday before their final group encounter against hosts Cluj next Monday.
Rachael Small opened the scoring at the 30,000-seater Cluj Arena in the 11th minute, calmly shooting past the Swansea No.1 from inside the penalty box.
Katey Turner doubled the Hibees’ lead just seven minutes later, knocking in after Abi Harrison’s initial effort had come back off the post.
Hibs wrapped up the points three minutes before the interval through a Lucy Graham penalty.
Defender Siobhan Hunter’s 25-yard free-kick then flew into the top corner for No.4 before Graham added her second and Hibs’ fifth to complete the rout.
The ten group winners and the runners-up with the best record against the sides first and third in their section join the 21 teams already given byes into the Round of 32. Hibs’ SWPL 1 rivals Glasgow City have already qualified.
