The long-serving Hibs defender, who set up Jamie Maclaren for the third goal in the incredible 5-5 draw with Rangers on the final day of the season yesterday, was capped at Under-19 and Under-21 level for his country, but this would be his maiden senior call-up.

The 30-year-old has made more than 400 appearances for Hibs and scored eight goals since breaking into the first team during the 2005/06 season.

Celtic midfielder Lewis Morgan, who was named PFA Scotland Championship Player of the Year after helping St Mirren earn promotion, is also expected to be included in the squad.

Scotland face Peru on May 29, and take on Mexico four days later on June 2. In his second tenure as national team boss, Alex McLeish saw his side go down 1-0 to Costa Rica at Hampden, before defeating Hungary 1-0 in Budapest.

After the upcoming double-header, Scotland will host Belgium in September before their opening Nations League match against Albania on September 10.

They then travel to Israel on October 11, before another friendly with Portugal on October 14. The remaining Nations League matches will be played on November 17 and 20.

McLeish will name the full squad later today.
