Anier, 25, arrived at Easter Road on a season long deal on transfer deadline day at the end of August, but managed just three appearances as a substitute for Alan Stubbs’ side.

New United boss Mixu Paatelainen was keen to have the former Motherwell player return to help the Tannadice club’s fight for Premiership survival but, as the Evening News revealed, Hibs had the final say on his immediate future.
