Hibs' Neil Lennon '˜in good company' after manager of year nomination

The Hibs boss has been shortlisted, along with Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers, Kilmarnock’s Steve Clarke and St Mirren’s Jack Ross, and he believes there are plenty more who could have been in the shake-up at the end of a campaign in which several managers have pulled off impressive feats. The winner will be announced at PFA Scotland’s annual awards dinner in Glasgow tomorrow.

“It’s not high on my agenda but it’s nice recognition for me and my playing staff and my management staff,” said Lennon. “I’m in a very good group of managers there. I’ve said already there’s a very high calibre of manager in Scotland just now, even when you think back to Owen Coyle being at Ross County. Some of them have done remarkable jobs – Steve Clarke, Stevie Robinson, Brendan Rodgers. Derek McInnes is still very consistent at Aberdeen and then you’ve got the two boys in the Championship, Jack Ross and David Hopkin.”

Yesterday’s nomination capped a satisfying couple of days for Lennon, who watched Hibs’ development team seal a league and couple double when they defeated Aberdeen 3-1 in the SFA Youth Cup final at Hampden on Thursday night.

“We’ve got a really good group there and they’ve done the club proud, themselves proud and me proud,” he said. “It’s very special for them. They’ve had a stellar season in terms of winning the development league and the Youth Cup. They can take a lot of pride in what they’ve done.”
