The 19-year-old arrived at Easter Road in January initially on trial but sustained a serious thumb injury only days later and required major surgery.

He did, though, play a number of games for Hibs’ development team before returning to his parent club Lech Poznan, who have suggested on their website today that the Capital club have exercised their “option of first refusal”.

Dabrowski wouldn’t be seen as part of Neil Lennon’s first-team squad but as a member of next season’s development side with Hibs hopeful of securing the return of Israeli internationalist Ofir Marciano, so impressive on loan last season, on a permanent basis.

The two clubs are understood to be locked in negotiations to reach an agreement for the 28-year-old, who has publicly expressed his desire to come back to Edinburgh.

Hibs have already signed Ross Laidlaw, who was understudy to Marciano last term, on a two-year contract.
