Goals from Lucy Graham, Sarah Ewins, Chelsea Cornet and Siobhan Hunter sealed the points for the Hibees at Albyn Park and Roberts said: I was impressed by Spartans and how well organised they were. We moved the ball really well throughout and deserved the 4-0 win in the end. A clean sheet and four goals is a good day at the office and the manner of the performance is particularly pleasing.

“It’s always nice to get one over on our neighbours.”

Spartans player/manager Suzy Shepherd lost her first derby in her new role against her former club but admitted: “I really enjoyed the experience.

“I thought we were well organised and we made it difficult for Hibs at times and limited their goalscoring opportunities. We know the quality Hibs have and they showed that when given chances.”

Graham headed home Joelle Murray’s cross to give her side the lead after ten minutes.

Ewins, playing against her old side for the first time, knocked in a rebound just before half-time.

On the hour mark, Cornet showed good feet to wriggle free in the box and get enough space to curl her shot into the net to make it 3-0.

Just minutes later, Hunter got on the end of a cross to the back post to head home.

In SWPL 2, there was also an Edinburgh derby between top-of-the-table Hearts and fourth-placed Hutchison Vale. Ellis Jenkins gave Hutchie Vale the lead in the first half with a wonder strike from 30 yards out. Hearts equalised through Michelle Stewart with 20 minutes remaining.
