Police have issued advice to fans attending Saturday’s SPFL clash between Aberdeen and Hibernian.
The match will kick off at 3pm at Pittodrie and supporters are being urged to arrive early and allow additional time for their journeys, due to the bank holiday weekend.
Match Commander Chief Inspector Murray Main said: “Police will be present at the fixture within the grounds, outside and across the city to assist in managing any traffic or other issues.
“We have been working closely with Aberdeen FC, Hibernian FC and our key partners to prepare for the fixture and I ask that the public and fans alike, help ensure the event passes without incident.
“I would like to remind fans that alcohol will not be permitted within the stadium and that any anti-social behaviour will be firmly dealt with at the time or if necessary retrospectively. It is an offence to drink alcohol within the stadium and when travelling by bus to and from the game. Those who attend the ground in an intoxicated state will not be permitted access and risk being arrested.”

Chief Inspector Main added: “While I want people to come to the city and enjoy this game of football, I must warn those intent on spoiling it for fans of both sides, particularly those who may be tempted to take pyrotechnics to the match.
“Pyrotechnics put health, safety and possibly lives at risk for fellow supporters, players, officials and staff.
“A search operation will be in place in the vicinity of the stadium and at the turnstiles and fans will be closely monitored for the possession of alcohol or pyrotechnics. I ask all fans to give yourself time to get into the ground in plenty of time. Additional specialist officers will also be in place to support local resources including colleagues from the Mounted Branch and specialist Dog Handlers.
“We want people to enjoy what could well be a great sporting event for the right reasons. Remember, your actions are your responsibility.”
