Hibs head coach Alan Stubbs insists he is “firmly focused” on his job at Hibs despite “speculation” linking him with the vacant manager’s position at Reading.

The English Championship outfit are on the lookout for a new boss after sacking Steve Clarke on Friday.

Reports today suggested Stubbs, whose Hibs side currently sit three points behind leaders Rangers in the Ladbrokes Championship and are on a 15-match unbeaten run, is on a list being considered for the role.

Reading dismissed Clarke following a run of one win in eight matches which leaves them 11th in the table.

However Stubbs – speaking after he won the manager of the month award for November – said: “As far as I’m concerned, it’s speculation. I’m firmly focused on my job here and that will never change. If I keep winning games then yes, there may be speculation with other clubs, but the most important thing on my mind is winning games for Hibernian Football Club.”

Brian McDermott is currently the even-money favourite to land the job in Berkshire. Stubbs is listed at 33/1.
