Celtic are understood to have made a ‘cash-plus-players’ offer for Hibs midfielder Scott Allan.
Allan has been the subject of three bids from Celtic’s Old Firm rivals Rangers this summer, handing in a written transfer request after the second offer was rejected.
Hibs have stated on several occasions that they would not sell their prized asset to the Gers – their main rivals for the Championship title – but the Easter Road outfit will have their resolve tested by the offer from the Premiership champions.
English Championship side Rotherham made an enquiry about Allan but soon ended their interest when told the player was not keen on leaving Scotland. However, it is understood Allan is willing to consider a move to Celtic Park.
Head coach Alan Stubbs was asked today if Celtic had made a bid for the former Dundee United star, and replied: “It’s irrelevant. He’s here. That’s the latest. I can’t and I won’t comment on speculation – it’s wrong to do so.”
