The match officials for Hibs’ trip to Celtic on Sunday have been confirmed by the Scottish FA.

Seasoned referee Steven McLean, who is now in his 11th season of officiating top-flight matches in Scotland, will take charge of the game – his first fixture involving the Capital club since Feburary.

The official has had two games so far this season, keeping order in the matches between Motherwell and Dundee United, and Aberdeen and Livingston, both in August.

McLean booked two players in each game, and awarded a penalty to the Dons.

This weekend’s clash will mark the 44th time McLean has overseen a Hibs match in his career, and 29th involving Celtic.

Of his 43 appointments refereeing matches involving the Easter Road side, Hibs have won 15, drawn 12, and lost 16 with 76 players booked, four sent off, and four penalties awarded.

He was also the man in the middle for Hibs' Scottish Cup final victory against Rangers in May 2016.

Celtic have won 21 of the 28 matches overseen by McLean, drawing three and losing four. Forty players have been booked, two sent off, and four spot-kicks given.

The 39-year-old has only taken charge of one previous match between the two clubs – Hibs’ 2-1 win at Easter Road in April 2018 when goals from Jamie Maclaren and Vykintas Slivka secured three points for Neil Lennon’s side.

Four players were cautioned; two from each side.

McLean will be assisted by Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross, and John McCrossan. Peter Stuart has been tasked with fourth-official duties.
