Martin Boyle was the only individual chosen by the pundit in his best XI, selected for the Scottish Sun.

With Hearts bottom of the league and having won just four games all campaign, it was little surprise there was no representation from the Tynecastle club.

Christian Doidge’s 18 goals weren’t enough to spearhead the 4-2-3-1 with Celtic star Odsonne Edouard unsurprisingly leading the attack.

Boyle was selected on the wing following a host of excellent performances.

He netted six goals in 28 appearances with starring displays in wins over Hearts and Aberdeen, both games saw the player hit a brace.

Boyle’s season was made even more impressive with the player recovering from two knee injuries.

“The Hibs star has shown great mental strength to come back from his injuries,” he said.

“As soon as he managed to get up to speed and get a consistent run in the side you could see what a huge player he is.

“Pace is such a weapon and his final ball has improved dramatically. Technically he looks a really talented player and with that pace he’s a huge threat.”

The 26-year-old was expected to feature at the Copa America this summer for Australia but due to the coronavirus pandemic it has been moved back to 2021.
