Hibs are hopeful striker Farid El Alagui will play his first match in over six months when the club’s Under-20 side travel to face St Johnstone on March 3.

The 29-year-old hasn’t featured for the first team since rupturing his Achilles’ tendon in the 2-1 defeat away to Alloa at the end of August.

The former Falkirk player, who netted four goals in as many league appearances prior to the injury, underwent an operation just a couple of days after falling awkwardly on the artificial surface at the Wasps’ Indodrill Stadium.

Having returned to full training last week, hopes were raised that the French-born Moroccan could have featured in next Tuesday’s Development League clash away at Kilmarnock.

However, the club’s medical team are keen not to rush the player back and consider the away trip to face Saints at the beginning of next month as a more realistic target.

The West stand will be open to supporters and entry is by donation. The game kicks off at 1pm.
