Former Hibs boss Terry Butcher has been appointed as the new manager of Newport County.
Butcher has been out of work since being sacked as manager of Hibs in June 2014 following a disastrous campaign which resulted in them being relegated to the Scottish Championship.
Butcher said he hopes to “exceed expectations” at Rodney Parade and keep the club moving up the Football League from League Two.
“Who would’ve thought years ago clubs like Burnley, Swansea and Bournemouth would’ve got into the Premier League?” said Butcher. “I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to work for a fantastic club like Newport County AFC,” Butcher told the club’s website.
“I have met a lot of great people at the club already and have seen the passionate fans for myself at recent games.
“I look forward to the new challenge and I’m looking forward to working together with everyone at a club that has great aspirations for the future.”
