Hibs today appointed Joe McBride as their new Under-20s Player Development Coach.

McBride has coaching experience from spells with Celtic, Watford and Hungarian outfit Ujpest where he was assistant to Willie McStay.

The 54-year-old was also first-team coach with Cardiff City as they achieved promotion to the Barclays Premier League under Malky Mackay.

McBride followed in the footsteps of his father, Joe Snr, by playing for Hibs, making 92 appearances during a three-and-half year spell at Easter Road during the mid-1980s.

He told Hibs TV: “My job goal is to develop players, who will be knocking on the door for a first-team place.

“I really enjoyed my time as a player here at Hibs, I’m delighted to now be back at the club and I’m excited about the challenge ahead.”
