Hibernian Ladies manager Chris Roberts is hoping for a return to winning ways in the League Cup against Forfar Farmington this weekend following his sides goaless draw away to Aberdeen at the weekend, but knows it wont be easy.
“We’re looking forward to the game,” said Roberts. “Forfar did really well to stay in the division last year and Mark Nisbit who is their manager now has a lot of experience and knows the game well so I would fully expect his side to be set up well and be difficult to beat.
“From what I heard at the weekend they were well in the game until they had a player sent off so we fully expect them to be well organised. They’ve got some quality in their team, Amy Gallacher is a player we know well and she’s a player that has some real good qualities about her and it’s nice to see the competitiveness of the league showing through after just two fixtures this season.
“Station Park is a great pitch for us, it’s a ground that suits us as it’s very similar to the conditions on our home pitch as well so we’re looking forward to that.”
It was good news for the Hibees boss this week as four of his side’s players have been chosen to join up with Gareth Evans’ Scotland Under-19s squad for the UEFA European Championships qualifiers in Portugal next month.
Lia Tweedie, Chelsea Cornet, Rachel McLauchlan, and Abigail Harrison were all selected in the 23-player squad on Tuesday for the games against Greece on April 5, Portugal on April 7 and France on April 10 as they look to secure their place in the Summer’s finals in Slovakia.
The only other Edinburgh club playing this week are Spartans, who are also away from home in the League Cup to Aberdeen. Suzy Shepard’s side have won their opening two games of this season following their 3-1 win at home to Forfar Farmington at the weekend.
