Hibs midfielder John McGinn was named in the Scotland squad today by national coach Gordon Strachan. He will join senior squad for forthcoming friendly against Denmark on Tuesday, March 29 at Hampden.
After captaining Scotland Under-21s, for whom he has nine caps so far, McGinn has been promoted as a reward for his outstanding domestic form this season. He has been a major catalyst as Hibs have pushed Rangers at the top of the Championship and reached the League Cup final.
Hearts defender Callum Paterson was also poised to be named in the Scotland squad before suffering a shoulder injury.
Manager Gordon Strachan named two different squads for the matches against Denmark and also the Czech Republic on Thursday, March 24. Other notable inclusions across both squads were Aberdeen’s Kenny McLean, Nottingham Forest’s Oliver Burke, Blackburn loanee Tony Watt and Liam Cooper of Leeds United.
