Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is hopeful that striker Kemar Roofe will be fit for Sunday’s trip to face Hibs at Easter Road.

The 27-year-old was replaced just before half-time in the Gers’ 5-0 Europa League win against Lincoln Red Imps in Gibraltar on Thursday afternoon but the Ibrox boss hasn’t given up hope of the former Leeds and Anderlecht man getting the all-clear for the Scottish Premiership clash.

Speaking on Friday morning Gerrard said: “I’m confident that Roofe will pull through as he was sensible and didn't take any risks. [Leon] Balogun should hopefully be available.”

Rangers will have to face Hibs without midfield trio Joe Aribo, Brandon Barker, and Ryan Jack, with all three ruled out through injury.

Gerrard added: “Jack, Aribo and Barker won't be available sadly but Morelos will be fine for Sunday; he has recovered great from the weekend [when he was forced off with injury]."

It's a top-of-the-table meeting on Sunday and as a result, Gerrard expects a tough encounter.

Praising Hibs’ early-season form, he said: “Easter Road will be another tough challenge against an in-form Hibs team but we have confidence we can go and do the job.

“We are certainly aware the level will go up each round in Europe. We watched the Willem II match the night before ours but we are all focused on Hibs at the weekend.

“My focus is on Rangers and what we will produce on the day. We are going to go and be aggressive and bold, we are going to try and win the game.”
