Both were semi-finalists in the League Cup earlier this year and Saints went on to life the trophy and are now seeking a cup double – unprecedented in the club’s history.

Hibs last win the cup in 2016, two years after the Saints and both sides are keen to add their name back onto the trophy.

There was almost a green and white contingent at Hampden for the showpiece event – but Glasgow’s tier rating and restrictions mean all supporters will be watching at home on TV for the second Scottish Cup final in a row.

Key Events

  • FT: Blackpool 0-3 Huddersfield Town
  • Seasiders aiming to make it back-to-back league wins
  • Ollie Turton set to make his return to Bloomfield Road after surprise summer exit

Luke Garbutt takes the 25-yard free-kick, but shoots well over. Angle was always going to be difficult for a left-footer.

Tyreece John-Jules is fouled five yards outside the Huddersfield box and Pool have a free-kick in a great shooting position.

All came after Shayne Lavery had won the ball back high up the pitch.

5 - Great atmosphere

Richard Keogh is given a few boos from the Huddersfield fans as he shepherds the ball out of play. The defender spent time with the Terriers in the Championship last season.

Both sides are making plenty of noise here early on.

Both sides are looking to get on the ball in the early stages, but nothing noteworthy has happened so far.

The North Stand is in fine voice once again - as it it needs saying anymore.

Tyreece John-Jules takes a knock to his left foot with the first action of the game, but it appears he’s able to hobble on and continue.

The Arsenal man is playing on the left wing this evening, with Shayne Lavery partnering Jerry Yates in attack.

Kenny Dougall gets the game started.

Come on you Pool!

And kick-off is moments away.

The atmosphere is already building nicely. Can the Seasiders build on Saturday’s magnificent display against Fulham and make it back-to-back league wins?

We’ll soon find out - up the mighty Pool!

Warm-ups done - not long to go!

A pleasant surprise

Gary Madine has surprisingly been named on the bench for Blackpool for tonight’s game against Huddersfield.

The striker had initially been left out of Blackpool’s 25-man squad that they had to recently submit to the EFL following the closure of the transfer window.

But clubs are now able to register injured players at any time, as long as it’s 24 hours before a fixture.

Madine has endured a nightmare 2021, having gone under the knife during the summer after a niggling groin injury plagued the second half of his 2020/21 season.

But the striker has recently returned to training and is now fit enough to be named in Blackpool’s 18-man squad.
