The Easter Road midfielder didn’t just model Hibs’ new Joma home kit, which has earned rave reviews since it was launched yesterday, the 29-year-old also had a key role in finalising the design of the 2021/22 strip.

Part of a four-man working party, the player has battled back after being forced to sit out a major chunk of last season with a heart complaint. Looking to get a good pre-season under his belt, he is set on staking a claim for a return to the first team place following a productive spell on loan at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

If he does, he will run out in the strip he rubber-stamped, according to interim chief executive Greg McEwan, who has been delighted by the feedback since the design was revealed.

“The fans really have got behind it. I have already had a lot of positive messages from fans delighted with it," he said.

“What they probably don’t know is that Scott was part of the group that worked on the designs. There were four of us and we wanted a member of the playing squad to be part of it. We felt it was important because they are the ones who will be wearing it in a performance environment so Scott was the one nominated. He wasn’t playing at the time so it was good to keep him involved and get his input.”

The away kit as well as the new third choice strip will be unveiled later this summer.
