As predicted, Aberdeen managed a narrow victory on our last outing but what was most disappointing was that after a very good start, Hibs fell out of the game completely when the Dons scored and failed to create a chance of note for the rest of the game.

We are still sitting in a league position we would all have taken at the beginning of the season after a few questionable performances so there are plenty of positives to take. St Mirren have had a very mixed start and will be affected by the coronavirus cases. On the flip side, Hibs will be happy to welcome Alex Gogic and Kevin Nisbet back to the fold as it's become ever more apparent that those two will be vital to our European aspirations this year.

With just about a full squad to pick from and the international break hopefully rejuvenating our squad, I expect to see a different Hibs side in terms of performance and this should ensure we take the full three points back to Leith. Prediction: St Mirren 0-2 Hibs

Normally I dread the international break, and while it was the usual turgid affair we’ve grown used to, it came at a good time for Hibs.

While the Aberdeen loss was our first of the season, it definitely felt like it had been coming. We are still yet to concede from open play, and we were a Martin Boyle rush of blood to the head away from a point against Aberdeen, but we have struggled to win the midfield battle since the Livingston game.

There’s a lack of energy in there so its good to see that we are trying to address that.

We move on to St Mirren and hopefully two weeks of training will have helped the squad work on the midfield. We will have Gogic as well as Nisbet back in the team, and St Mirren will be missing a couple of players due to coronavirus, but I am expecting another close game. Prediction: St Mirren 1-2 Hibs

The worst part of losing to Aberdeen a fortnight ago was knowing we would be going into the international break having to dwell on that disappointing result.

Disappointing, but not surprising. The result had been coming. Whilst at the back we still haven't conceded from open play, going forward we look sluggish and uninspired.

Saturday's visit to Paisley is the perfect way to ease back into the league. Hopefully the break has allowed players carrying knocks to repair themselves and has given Jack Ross the opportunity to freshen up his thinking.

It would be nice to see Jamie Murphy start to see what he can offer the team and the return of Alex Gogic will add steel to the starting eleven. St Mirren have looked blunt in attack although I'd be wary of Lee Erwin who could be a handful if handed his debut.

For this weekend, I'd rather see a performance rather than a result, but obviously wouldn't complain if the two combined. Third place this season is easily within our grasp, it's now time for Jack Ross and the team to show their mettle and demonstrate they want it too. Prediction: St Mirren 0-2 Hibs

Hibs travel to Paisley on Saturday looking to get back to winning ways after experiencing their first league defeat on their last outing against Aberdeen.

Hibs will be pleased to have Gogic available after isolation and Nisbet back after injury.

Jack Ross will have used the international break to integrate new signing, Jamie Murphy, into the squad as well as getting across how he fits into the team and Hibs’ style of play.

Although this isn’t a must win for Hibs, the two games after this meeting are against Celtic and Rangers which will be a test and a win on Saturday would be a huge confidence

builder.

I would like to see Hibs start with the 3-5-2 formation with Nisbet back supporting Doidge in attack. Hopefully there will be a starting debut for Murphy and a place on the bench for new loan signing Dillon Barnes. Prediction: St Mirren 0-2 Hibs

After the international break we roll into this fixture a bit bruised. Following a couple of disappointing performances where we still managed to get the three points, it really didn’t come as much of a surprise we eventually lost to Aberdeen.

I don’t think we managed a shot on target in the second half and it really highlighted how badly we need a central midfielder. What made it worse was former Hibs target Ross McCrorie absolutely bossed us and was man of the match by a country mile.

Jack Ross been linked to a few over the past few weeks so I’m hoping we can get someone in as soon as possible. We are an injury or two away from bare bones so we must get these signings right. St Mirren will be a real test for Hibs. A win for them will take them with three points of us so they’ve had a fairly good start themselves.

If Nisbet is fit and Ross plays a 4-4-2 I think Hibs will be to much for St. Mirren. We must play with better link up from the midfield to our forward players.

The long ball to Doidge is killing us at times and the football is hard to watch. If Wright and Boyle play then Hibs need to use them and get the ball into the box quickly.

I’d love to see Allan get back to picking those channel passes for Boyle and Doidge to run onto. So this week I’m going 1-2 Hibs with Hibs getting a late winner. Prediction: St Mirren 1-2 Hibs
