The attacker was thrown on at half-time in place of Drey Wright as Easter Road head coach Jack Ross sought a way back into the game after Daniel Higgins’ free kick goal had given the hosts a deserved lead.

Gullan had been on the park for a matter of minutes when he converted Martin Boyle’s low cross to level the scoreline, with Hibs going onto win 2-1 thanks to Kevin Nisbet’s fine strike.

Speaking to Premier Sports after the game Gullan said: “[The gaffer] told me to try and impact the game in a positive way, get us back playing on the front foot, get us up the pitch and try to create stuff.

"Luckily we got the goal early in the second half and that stood us in good stead to go on and win the game.

"Scoring just after coming on is what you want to do, and it's what the gaffer told me to do. I'm happy I got a goal; it's been a long time and I'm just buzzing we got the win.”

The 21-year-old is now desperate to build on his strong showing against both teams.

Gullan continued: "I had a few chances against Brora Rangers that didn't come but I'm delighted I took the chance today.

"I want to be back playing in this team and showing what I can do.

“With any minutes on the pitch I'm just looking to impress and hopefully keep getting some starts and keep going from here."
