Jamie Murphy has revealed Greg Docherty helped sell him on a move to Easter Road. The 31-year-old signed on a season-long loan from Rangers last month and will join on a permanent basis next summer. His former Ibrox team-mate Docherty scored three goals and registered five assists in eight matches for Jack Ross' side after making the temporary switch to Edinburgh with striker Florian Kamberi heading to Rangers on a similar deal in January.Murphy said: "I spoke to Greg Docherty about the move and to Paul and Stephen McGinn who are here at the moment."They gave me a good idea of what it's like here and what Hibs are trying to achieve."Greg couldn't speak highly enough about the place and he obviously helped me make the decision."It's good that the team has had a good start but in general it's a really good club, with a good stadium and training facilities. It's exactly what I was looking for."Hibs weren't the only team interested in Murphy but the winger admitted the chance to settle somewhere was part of the attraction after spending a portion of last season on loan at English Championship side Burton Albion.Murphy explained: "I wanted somewhere to go where I could be settled and be able to give everything I've got to the team. Hibs have given me that opportunity."There were one or two other things I could have looked at but Hibs were the club I really wanted to go to, so when the opportunity came I took it and I will try to repay them the best I can."Murphy missed the bulk of the 2018/19 season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury and only made a couple of substitute appearances for Rangers last season before his brief spell in England, and he is understandably eager to make up for lost time. He could make his first start for Hibs when they take on St Mirren on Saturday.Murphy continued: "I'm looking forward to getting back playing."If you look back over the last five or six years, I'm definitely a better player now."I just haven't been able to show it over the last couple of years and I want to do that at Hibs."We all want to do well and my aim is to do the best that I possibly can to help the team."If I am playing then I’ll try to set up goals and score goals. That is what I have done throughout my career and hopefully that continues here."Murphy made his debut as a second-half substitute and played a little over half an hour as Hibs fell to their first league defeat of the campaign against Aberdeen just before the international break. The Easter Road side are still to concede from open play but Murphy insists that the team can't look too far ahead. He said: "We just need to take it one game at a time. You look at the game that's in front of you which is the way football should be.

"It gets a bit complicated sometimes but if you're going out on a Saturday wanting to try to win, you can't go wrong."
